William Sawaya
The Sawaya Moroni showroom on the Via Manzoni in Milano is one of the great treasures of the city – a constantly changing burst of energy, ideas and beautiful, unapologetic form. Sawaya himself is one of Milan’s new maestros. A man of grace and generosity, born in Beirut in 1948, he seems to always have an open mind with influences from diverse cultures. He sees furniture design as “definers of space”, not objects – which is just one of many reasons why we love him ! They used to say as long as the Colosseum stands, Rome stands. Today, as long as Sawaya Moroni remains, Milan will remain the unquestioned definer of taste in contemporary culture.
